Emma Jung was born in Schaffhausen as the eldest of two daughters of the rich machinery manufacturers Johannes Rauschenbach and his wife Bertha Schenk. Originally they wanted to study science, but what her father refused. Instead, they spent 1898/99 a year in Paris and learned French, and later Greek, Latin and mathematics.
seventeen, she met the psychiatrist and later friend and disciple of Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung (1875-1961), whom she married in 1903 ( Fig. ). From their marriage four girls and a boy emerged. Despite CG Jung relationships with other women, especially to his student Antonia Wolff , the marriage lasted for 52 years up to Emma Jung’s death.
